I use Mobil 1 75X90 synthetic gear oil. (front and rear diff). I added a PML rear diff cover so I add about 4 1/2 quarts. For all 6.6 L Duramax Diesel 2500HD Series applications and all 3500 Series applications, the proper level is from 17mm to 21mm (0.6 in to 0.8 in) below the bottom of the fill plug hole, located on the rear axle.

It should be there JT, There should be a section on recommended fluids and lubs. Followed by a section on capacities and specs. For example, the transfer case needs ATF.
